Twin Oaks riders had a fun and eventful 2021 season! Last year, we matched 9 riders and horses together including 5 new horses in the barn. A lot of hard work has gone into finding these great new horses and learning new partnerships! Highlights as far as horse shows this year:
- Recognized horse trials at Southern Pines, Morven Park, Plantation Field, Loudoun Hunt Pony Club, Middleburg, Hunt Club Farm, the Virginia Horse Trials, Seneca Valley, Waredaca, Loudoun Hunt, and Area II Championships.
- Mackenzie and Moe were consistently in the ribbons at Preliminary, and completed two CCI** competitions! Completing the CCI**-L was a memorable way to end their show career together. Moe was also 3rd in the Area II Preliminary Championships.
- Mickey stepped up to the plate as a confirmed Training level horse. He had a very successful season, winning at three horse trials this year and placing top three in several others. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
- Nikki and Kinsale showed tremendous growth this year, ending the season as an experienced Novice team. Nikki and Kinsale picked up 1st and 2nd at multiple horse trials and competed in Area II Championships.
- Caroline and Jaden and their new mounts Biggie and Arbor completed several schooling shows in preparation for next year’s season. Both horses are proving to be great matches for these girls! Evie had a strong spring season, moving up to Novice with Blue.
- Our younger girls picked up many tri color ribbons at local hunter shows at Short Stirrup and Low Hunter. Go Avery, Elle, Kelley, and Lily! At the very end of 2021, Elle was able to get a new horse (Bella) and Lily has matched with Vegas to teach lower level Eventing. Excited for these pairs!
- Claudia and Heather are enjoying dressage shows with improved scores each time! Claudia has a new horse Redemption and they are gearing up for their first outing together.
- Our adult eq riders rode in the National Capitol Adult Equitation league, placing in competitive classes! Brittney was our high point rider for the season.
- Renee and Beatrix, Alison and Tarquin, Miriam and Tater, and Kelley and Joey are our new lease matches. We are lucky to have these horses as great teachers for these riders!
We are loving the new-to-us farm! The horse enjoy plentiful pasture space and the facility is perfect for our needs. This year we added run-in sheds to the big paddocks and made lots of improvements to the viewing lounge. Lots more things on the to-do list for next year!
